In 1989, in São Paulo’s North Zone, Marcílio Alfano and his wife, Márcia, realized a long-held dream: starting their own company. Passionate about good food, Marcílio put into practice what he had learned from his father, Michele Alfano, and launched MGA.
Initially, MGA sold domestic products to the foodservice sector, but in 1995 it transitioned into an importer, creating its own brand inspired by the family’s hometown. Thus, di Salerno was born, with the mission of offering innovative, authentic, and superior-quality products.
The first imported items were anchovy fillets and artichokes, sourced through early partnerships in Argentina and Chile. Recognizing the positive impact of their products, MGA expanded its portfolio, opened a branch in Salvador, and grew its operations to serve all of Brazil. In 2008, the company relocated its headquarters to a 4,200 m² facility in Alphaville | Tamboré (São Paulo).
Today, di Salerno maintains partnerships in countries such as Italy, Spain, Turkey, Argentina, Ecuador, and China, offering a line of over 200 premium products, in addition to having expanded its own product processing and manufacturing capabilities.
Proud of its family heritage, the Alfano family’s involvement in the company has grown; today, the second generation—Marcílio and Márcia’s daughters, Taruana and Tainã Alfano—also lead di Salerno. After all, it’s from our family to yours!
